Mail Art zines and ephemera from the U.S.A.

Mostly from the Bay Area Dadaist, a San Francisco-based collective engaged in self-publishing, Fluxus inspired events, mail art and rubber stamps. Includes: (1) West Bay Dadaist Vol. 1 No. 2 June 1973. Edited by Arthur Cravan in San Francisco. Small Xerox zine with contributions by Genesis P. Orridge, Monte Cazazza, Davi Det Hompson, et al. (2) Weekly Breeder Vol. 1 No. 2 June 1980. Large format stapled issue, published by La Mamelle Inc., San Francisco. Contributions by Buster Cleveland, Bill Gaglione, Kazu Yanagi et al. (3) Carrot, first two issues 1971-1972, published by Richard Olsen in San Francisco. With letter to Peter van Beveren concerning the publication's engagement with art, social change and 'pornographia'. (4) Vague, A Nebazine. First 5 issues, published in 1983 by Steve Random in Massachusetts. Small Xerox mail art assembling in an edition of 50, with contributions by Anna Banana, Buster Cleveland, Carlo Pittore, Leavenworth Jackson et al. With 2 original envelopes and a note to Bart Boumans. (5) Peter Witson Warren, known as The Western Dakota Junk Co, based in Montana. Collection of 3 postcards with rubberstamped additions, 2 letters (1 in original envelop), 6 Xerox flyers, 2 signed and numbered flyers. All items were sent to Peter van Beveren between 1975-1977.

(6) Collective Bay Area Dadaist items. Three postcards featuring b/w photographic group portraits, and 3 flyers, including a Xerox collage featuring Gaglione, Ron Illando, Ed Zzo and Irene Dogmatic wearing Cavellini glasses, hand-stamped 'Bay Area Daddaists, Ineffectual Student Art Groupies' with handwritten caption. (7) Buster Cleveland. Flyer featuring Ray Johnson's 'Add & Return' mail art project, in rubberstamped envelope sent to Van Beveren. (8) Monte Cazazza. Rubberstamped card 'Are you Good to Eat?', and 4 flyers including 'I'd Like to Strap You on and Fuck You Till Your Nose Bleeds', and 'Cut Up or Shut Up'. Undated late 1970s. (9) Bill Gaglione. Three flyers, two cards, and one postcard with a participation call for a visual poem book. All sent to Van Beveren late 1970s, contains one original envelope. (10) Pat Tavenner. Flyer and postcard. (11) Tim Mancusi. Postcard 'Break the Law'. (total 47)
