Bill Gaglione. Original stamp works
Three signature pieces, all featuring a rubber stamped portrait of the artist, with stamped caption 'Gaglione 1940-2020'. (1) Purple, red and black ink on brown paper, 22 x 16 cm. Portrait stamp in black, with red Stempelplaats stamp, and purple title. Numbered 28/50. Produced at the time of Bill Gaglione and Anna Banana's stay in Amsterdam in conjunction with a show at Stempelplaats.
(2) Purple and red ink on white paper, 28 x 21.5 cm. Purple stamped image of the artist with red caption 'Gaglione 1940-2040'. Undated, c. 1982. Slight edge wear, image in mint condition. (3) Purple and red ink on white paper, 21.5 x 14 cm. Purple stamped image of the artist with red caption 'Gaglione 1940-2040'. Stamped on back 'Re/View/Of/Views'. Folded vertically to fit in the accompanying hand stamped envelope, sent in 1982. (4) Postcard with signature Gaglione portrait stamped in red, with 'Modern Lux ' stamp in purple. Postmarked 1982. Bill Gaglione (1943-) was an influential networker in the mail art network, first active in the 1960s with Ray Johnson's New York Correspondence School, then in California during the 1970s. He cooperated with Anna Banana on various projects, including setting up Vile Magazine.
