[America] Land grant signed by Henry Lee III as governor of Virginia

Dated 1792. Partially printed and in manuscript on vellum. Document granting 255 acres of land to Wiliam Royall. Some annotations on verso. With red wax and paper Embossed Seal applied lower left corner, signed boldly "Henry Lee". 31 x 38 cm. Framed.

Tape remains at top, a few sm. holes along folds, still in very good condition. Henry "Light-Horse Harry" Lee 1756-1818) was an officer in the Continental and U.S. armies, a representative from Virginia to the Confederation Congress (1786-1788) and the U.S. House of Representatives (1799-1801), a member of the House of Delegates (1789-1791), the Governor of Virginia (1791-1794), and the master of Stratford Hall. He was also the father of Robert E. Lee. Added: Manuscript document on vellum from West-Virginia, dated 1875. Signed by Charles PT. Moose, J. Smith and 1 other. Badly legible. 39 x 24 cm. Framed.
