Complete series with title and 25 numb. plates (preceded by blank leaf of the same age, watermark "S. Pithon" (?)), each approx. 17 x 20 cm. After Maerten de Vos (I) (1531/32-1603), in his turn after Johannes Sadeler (I) and Raphael Sadeler (I); all signed "M. de Vos inven" or in variant forms, the title also w. address of Claes Jansz. Visscher (1586-1652) in the plate. Later boards w. mounted manuscript title-label "Les pieces du desert de Martin Devos et Jean Londerseel", obl. folio. Very good impressions on paper w. watermark dep. a crowned shield w. central lily, with wide margins. Waterst. in blank upper margin throughout, occas. other stains, minimal other internal and external imperfections. Hollstein 46 (De Vos) 1024-1049. The series is sometimes found w. 5 additional plates, not present here (cf. Hollstein 11 (Londerseel) 30-59).
