[Mother's Day in 1822]

Manuscript, ca. 60 pages in a fine, calligr. hand (followed by ca. 30 blank pages), on the title and in between the text pages 8 extremely fine black crayon drawings in total, fine contemporary binding in gilt green half-leather with gilt-stamped dedication "Dèdiè [sic] a ma mère" in raised lozenge shape on front casing, gilt page edges, in original pink cardboard sliding case (some leaves getting loose, leather lozenge shape on backside missing).

A loving hommage to a mother by her son ("un fils qui cherit sa mère", intoductory poem), with text contributions such as "Le Bouton de Rose. Fable", "Le coucher du Soleil", "L'Attrait du Village", "Premier Amour", "A la Fortune", "Les Charmes de l'Amitié", "Zephyr et Flore", "Les Charmes de l'Amour", Portrait de Donquichotte", "Le Songe de l'Indigent", L'Amour en Voyage" en "Combat de Donquichotte contre les Moulins à Vent". The drawings (of great artistic value) represent, among others: the personified virtues Fortuna and Gaudium (Joy); Cupid on his chariot, a young couple aimed at by Cupid with his arrow, Zephyr and Flora and Zephyr alone.
