Thomas Willis (1621-1675) was an English doctor who played an important role in developing the scientific disciplines of anatomy, neurology and psychiatry. He was a pioneer in the research of the anatomy of the brain, the nerve system and the muscles. He discovered a part of the brain which was then named after him (the Circle of Willis). In 1662 he co-founded the Royal Society. (Source: Wikipedia)
