rococo period, ca. 1750, front cover with central scene of the three Magi, back cover with central scene of the Annunciation, both scenes surrounded by openworked frame richly ornamented with c-curls with on the corners 4 instrument-playing putti, boards with hinged connection by similarly decorated, openworked spine and hinged clamp, total size (unfolded) 12.3 x 22.5 cm. (boards 12.3 x 9.5 cm.).

Annunciation with small, illegible round silver mark, else apparantely unmarked. Fine example of one of the most luxurious kinds of book covers, in perfect condition.
