Het Kerkelyk en Wereltlyk Deventer

New binding, half leather, folio, new endpapers, title page in red and gilt stamping and a copperplate vignette of the city of Deventer (7 x 14 cm.), 4 books (=sections) in one binding, (24), (1), 648, (22), (1) pp., complete with the portrait of the author by Palthe and Houbraken, a folding plan, a folding print of the Sint Lebuinuskerk by J. van Sassen and the same of the Sint Niklaeskerk.

After his death, a second volume was published by a grandson in 1788. Dumbar granted the city an important gift with his historiography, but simultaneously made matters quite complicated for laters historian: for the writing of his book, he took a large number of pieces from the city archive home and never returned them; later they appeared missing from his estate. Scarce.
