[Cartography] Wandkaart Hoogheemraadschap Zeeburg en Diemerdijk

Kaarte van alle de dykpligtige en eenige waalpligtige landen behorende onder het Hoogreemraadschap van den Zeeburg en Diemerdyk. Wall map in copperplate (more than 20 segments of various sizes) pasted on cloth with wooden rolls top and bottom. Map image 126 x 212 cm. Jan Wandelaar [Amsterdam. ca. 1750].

Left and right of the map the arms of the Heeren Dykgraaf, Hoogheemraden and secretary of 't Hoog Heemraadschap van de Zeedyk bewesten de Vecht gezegt den Zeeburg eb Diemer Dyk zoo als deselve in de jaare 1749 zijn. Top centre right: a large eagle, putti and coats of arms of Heren of various Hoogheemraden Bottom centre left: coats of arms of voting Holland and Stigt-Utrecht districts. The map depicts the east of Amsterdam with the Diemermeer and the Bijlmermeer; towards the east the polders containing the names of the owners of the individual plots. The map is bordered in the east by the Vecht river with Muiden and Weesp. Bottom left and right allegorical scenes, dikes and ships in the Zuyderzee. This is an early edition of this map that was augmented with the arms of new Dijkgraven etc. up to 1781. The map is signed in the lower roll below the eagle by J. Wandelaar. In good condition.
