[Awards Belgium] Captain Jean-Louis de Greef (1899-1976)

Complete collection of 14 awards, with 11 copies preserved with both the decoration itself and the smaller ribbon, incl. the Order of the Crown with palm, Crosses of War 1st and 2nd World War (with palm), victory medal 1914-1918, Military Decoration, Volunteer combatant's cross, Labour Decoration (with percale certificate, 1959), Erekruis Nationale Strijdersbond van België (with paper Erediploma, 1970), Resistance Medal etc., all but a few in very good condition (partly in the original box), with accompanying documents such as a mourning card, newspaper article, original photos, proofs of identity, letters, testimonies, books etc.

Special, complete collection of the awards of Captain of the armed resistance, Jean-Louis de Greef, national superintendent of the resistance group Witte Brigade (Fidelio), former fighter in the war 1914-1918, armed resistance member 1940-1945. The ribbons have been collected on one ribbon bar; the lot also contains a photo in which De Greef is indeed wearing the bar. The collection is also well-documented with the original card with Opgave der oorlogsdiensten voor strijder 1940-1945 (with passport photo), a proof of identity card for the Weerstandsbeweging (with passport photo), a book of Blijk van Nationale Erkentelijkheid with statement of loans, a proof of membership of the Witte Brigade, some 20 war photos of our hero with fellow soldiers and various approving testimonials. The photos include a portrait photo of an American pilot whom De Greef had helped in March 1944, with signed dedication. Also a newspaper article on the funeral of De Greef with the original photo printed with it, and the book "Hier Radio België...Jan Moedwil [= Fernand Geerssens] in woord en beeld" (1945, no. 9 of 500 signed copies, this copy also with signed dedication to Cecil Havilland de Sausmarez).
