[Cookbooks] Manuscript cookbook/ artist's manual, c. 1800

with ± 130 pages filled with recipes, with a 4-page index and a "Liedeken op een aengenaeme wijze" and a few other songs at the end, with manuscript owner's entry of Petrus Nicolaus Nijsten dated "anno 1770" on upper pastdown, at the end genealogical data from members of the Nijsten family dated 1818-1851, contemporary vellum wallet-binding with envelope at the end and overlapping flap, front cover with "(...) Petrus Nicolaus Nijsten Anno 1777" in pen, small 8vo size.

Contents very good; traces of more envelopes (for loosely inserting additional recipes) at the beginning and end. Vellum warped and soiled, flap torn and lacks the tie. Probably by Petrus Nijsten (1742-1813) from Maastricht. We found a Petrus Nicolaas Nijsten, but he was born in 1802. Comprises not only a number of recipes for food (mostly for pastries), but also recipes for artists such as varnishes and paints.
