[Strongmen. Judaica. Circus Busch] (Breitbart's Faustschlag tötet einen Stier)

Friedländer, Hamburg, 1920. 71 x 48 cm. Lith. no. 6950.

Image only, no descriptive title. Folded. *Zishe Breitbard (1893-1925) was a Jewish strongman born in Poland. In the 1920s he toured with Circus Busch using the stage name "The Iron King". In one of his most famous acts he lifted a baby elephant, climbed up a ladder while holding the animal and a rope with a locomotive wheel between his teeth. The weight of this wheel was further enhanced with three men holding on to it. He was known as the "strongest man in the world" and became a folk hero for Jews in Eastern Europe.
