Una cum dissertatione de litteris & lingua Samaritanorum. Authore Johanne Leusden. Utr., Meinard van Dreunen, 1658, (24),255,(1 blank) p. (pagination in Hebrew/ Arabic manner, backwards compared to "normal" books), w. woodcut printer's mark on title-p. and vignette at the end, contemp. overlapping vellum, sm. 8vo.
Fine copy, with autograph signed dedication on blank prel. leaf: "Doctissimo et ornatissimo D. Davidi Laccher hanc Scholari Syriaca donat Author Jos. Leusdi 1658 12 May". Syrian grammar, with a chapter on Hebrew-Samaritan at the end, by Johannes Leusden (1624-1699), an acknowledged authority in the field of Oriental languages and Hebrew. He became professor in these fields at Utrecht university in 1653, and his fame drew many students to Utrecht. David Laccher was almost certainly one of those students, his dissertation was titled Disputationum philologicarum vigesima quarta de masora pars tertia (...) and was published by Meinard van Drunen in 1655.
