Title-p. loose and lacking portions; scattered tax stamps; lacks first free endpaper. Interesting and very rare auction-catalogue, listing 538 / 598/ 2809 / 296 books (folio/ 4to/ 8vo/ manuscripts). The manuscripts include 2 of the oldest Dutch chronicles, written in Egmond (number 12 in folio, up to the year 1147 and number 286 in 8vo, up to the year 1205), as well as a number of other (early) medieval texts. The printed books include (post)incunabula and a number of later 16th-century books. The auction was held at the house of the widow B. Scheurleer, Veenestraat 152, The Hague. A second part of the library was auctioned in November 1845. (2) Troisième partie du catalogue des livres rares et précieux, de la bibliothèque de feu Mr. Pierre-Philippe-Constant Lammens (...). Dont la vente publique aura lieu à Gand, le 26 Octobre 1840 et jours suivants (...) par le greffier De Porre et Verhulst. Ghent, printed by D.J. Vanderhaeghen-Hulin, (1840), (4),445,(2) p., contemp. gilt hcl., both covers w. central gilt crowned coat-of-arms (a few unobtrusive signs of age). The third part of what must have been a truly incredible library, this part alone listing 6874 lots of printed works and 146 lots of manuscripts. (3) N.C.L. Abrahams.
