[Italy] Five various prints: (1) Pietro Testa (1611-1650).
(Sinorix carried from the temple of Artemis). Etching, 28.5 x 40.5 cm., monogrammed "PTL" (intertwining) bottom right, mounted with top corners to holder.
Poor copy but with no loss to image; trimmed on/ just inside the plate edge, folds, minor tears, soiled. Bartsch 19, first state (of three). Very rare; (2-3) Antonio Tempesta (after). "De gouden eeuw". "De coperen eeuw". Two engravings from the series of the four world eras (lacks iron and silver) by Robert de Baudous (1574-1659), both 32 x 32.5 cm., numbered respectively 167 and 169 in print, both with title and verse by Richard Lubbaeus in print below the image, the first with "Antonius Tempestius In." in print. Both copies frayed/ with folds. Hollstein 117 and 119, in a later edition with added numbering and on paper with watermark Tuin van Holland. Both with finely calligraphed yet unread owner's name (not in Lugt) and dated 29 july 1816 in pen on reverse. Rare. And with 2 more: an etching by G.B. Galestruzzi (1618-1661) after Polidoro da Caravaggio and an etching with scene of the vision of Saint Francis. (total 5)
