Several plans protruding with outer margins from bookblock and there raffled and discoloured by dust (1 plan with small tear); sl. browned; old note on endpaper; leather withered and scratched and with wormholes in top cover. Good copy.
The siege of Flemish cities during the War of the Austrian Succession, with the text in the form of a Journal (varying from 2 to 10 pages) about the siege of each city, followed by the city plan, in chronological order: first Menin in May 1744 and last Maastricht in April 1748. Some of the other cities are of course Brussels and Antwerp and Bergen op Zoom, Oudenaarde and Ostend.
