On the author Jacques Vanière (1664-1739), see: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacques_Vani%C3%A8re. His book Praedium Rusticum discusses the work and the pleasure of the countryside, finely depicted in the 16 plates. It appeared for the first time in 1682 (in 10 chapters), only in 1730 did an edition similar to ours with 16 chapters appear.
