XVI,359 and VIII,376 p., with frontispiece portrait of General Van Swieten and 8 folding maps (2 of which with courses of battle) and 5 folding plates and 1 full-page plate, partly in colour, uniformly bound in dark red cloth with gilt title on front board and spine, gilt spine decoration, boards with blindstamped border decoration, 8vo.

Bindings slightly rubbed along edges, renewed endpapers, a few folding maps and plates lightly torn along edge, else good. Although the sultanate Boni on Sulawesi had been under Dutch influence since 1666, during the 19th century it increasingly began to resist domination. This account relates of Dutch expeditions in answer to the resistance, also with an eye for the relations between colonial rulers and local inhabitants (total 2).
