[Bookshaped box] Case richly decorated with repoussé hunting scenes,
second half 19th century, the hinging lid ("front board") with male and female figures in 16th-century clothing with birds on their arms and standing in interweaving tendrils, with latter affixed heraldic escutcheon covering two crowned ovals (visible on inside), back with a hornblowing man and animals in similar tendrils, spine in 5 compartments with tendrils shaped like the letters "G.O.B.G.B." (?), inside gilt, 16.5 x 13 x 4 cm.
The box is unmarked, the escutcheon we could not trace. Consider the theme of the decoration this probably concerns a luxurious, upper-class wedding present.
