[Chinese export gouaches] Album with 12 gouaches on "pith" paper,

all ca. 22 x 34 cm. (incl. silk ties with which the gouaches are affixed to paper mounts), loose in contemporary (original?) richly decorated silk wrapper with ties, 25 x 37.5 cm.

Here and there with damage usual for this type of paper such as tears, holes and missing pieces, but mostly in the blank parts, only in a few cases in the image. Wrapper waterstained in bottom corners but considering its fragility in remarkably fresh condition. A very interesting series of relatively large gouaches, the scenes mostly depict the practice of opium consumption. One gouache depicts a group of women making music.
