[New Year wishes] Two series of 6/13 years: (1) Nieuwjaarswensch van Thomasvaar,

op de Bruiloft van Kloris en Roosje uitgesproken door den heer T. Majofski, in den Hollandschen Schouwburg te Amsterdam (1x) / den Amsterdamschen Stads Schouwburg (5). Den eersten januarij 1820, 1823, 1829, and 1834-1836. Amsterdam, H. Westerman (en Zoon)/ M. Westerman, (1819-1835), 6 issues from the series, 11 to 15 p., all in the shape of a quire of 8 leaves without wrapper.

Lovely publication, a tradition of the Amsterdamse Stadsschouwburg and the regular (but always varying) "nastuk" with the performance of Gijsbrecht van Amstel. The main characters are always Thomas and Pieternel. The first Nieuwjaarswens was delivered on 3 January 1780 by Jan de Waal, the last by J.H. Albrecht in 1859. These wishes were partly again delivered by the same people at the theatre in Utrecht. (2) Nieuwjaarslied/ Nieuwjaarszang/ Nieuwjaarsgroete van de kinderen in het Gereformeerde Weeshuis, genaamd: Heilige Geest of Armen- Wees- en Kinder-Huis te Leyden, Voor het jaar 1847 [= year 1]-1850 and 1853-1861 [= final year, at least with this title]. No place (Leiden), printed by D. du Mortier en Zoon (to 1855), E.J. Brill (remainder), (1846-1860), 13 years, 7-11 p. per volume, year 1858 in contemporary wrapper (causing browning), remainder without wrapper. Near-complete set of songs and very rare as such, written "voor de weezen" (for the orphans) by H.C. Huijser, E.W. van Dam van Isselt, J. van Lennep, J.E. Banck, Tollens, E. Laurillard, W.J. Hofdijk and others (total 19).
