Sports awards of athlete, banker and artist Johan Hendrik Pootjes (1882-1944),

consisting of 12 medals (incl. 2 badges) and 14 pins for his achievements as a swimmer, runner and water polo player, incl. from Athletiek-Club De Bataaf (5x), athletiek-vereniging Velocitas (2x) and Zwemvereniging Het Y (3x).

This special collection of awards includes 4 medals (3x of silver, marked with sword) of A.C. de Bataaf, for four 1st prizes in running various short distances, and a pin of the club. For Vereniging Velocitas a second-place medal on the Engelse Mijl (1901) and a beautifully enameled pin, and for Zwemvereniging Het Y three pins (1x of silver and 1x of gold). Pootjes also won medals in water polo (1st prize 1906 at the Leidsche Atletiekvereeniging De Sportman, silver, marked with sword) and the 2nd place on the 1609 metres at Arnhem, 1903. The lot also contains 2 beautiful badges (1x Jugendstil, 1902 and 1x Holl. - Indië 1-4-1934 afdeling Den Haag). (total 26)
