[Beautiful 'Bauerneinband' c. 1750] Binding of very profusely gilt and coloured vellum,

both boards with central ornament of flowers in vase, surrounded by a green field entirely covered with small golden flowers, corners in pink with gilt floral tendrils, spine gilt with among other things a repeated special motif of a mermaid in a vase, c-curls, flowers, stars and leaf tendrils, all edges gilt and chiselled, small 8vo.

Contents: Biblia, dat is, De gantsche H. Schrifture (...). Dordrecht, J. & H. Keur, 1740, with engraved title page and illustrations. With traces of former clamps, spine tanned and gilding on spine worn. A beautiful example of a so-called 'Bauerneinband'.
