(the Queen and her children, and 3 full-page engr. ills. (visits to Mons, Brussels and Antwerp), cont. calf, gilt and ribbed spine w. mor. letterpiece, 4to (sm. folio size). A few stains, occas. foxing and offsetting from turn-ins. Rebacked w. use of the orig. backstrip (top and bottom compartments missing), covers chafed. A good copy from the library of Vincent van Gogh (1866-1911), w. his bookplate etched by Marius Bauer on upper pastedown. Van Gogh was his world famous namesake's uncle. He was an established and well-known art dealer, who owned a small business in paints and drawing materials in the Hague. In 1858 he joined forces w. Goupil & Cie. (in 1858). The book describes the Royal Visit of Maria de Medici to the Low Countries, where she was received in Mons, Antwerp and Bruxelles. A visit of the French exiled Queen mother Maria de Medici, gave rise to the publication of 'Histoire curieuse (...)' compiled by J. Puget de la Serre (1600 - 1665). A visit by Maria de Medici to the printing establishment of the Officina Plantiniana is mentioned on page 59.
