[Emblemata] Emblemata Amatoria. Emblemes d'amour en Quatre Langue
London, Chez l'Amoureux, n.d. (ca. 1690), fully engraved (92 leaves printed on one side): title page, sonnet in French and Dutch with accompanying plate, 44 emblemata by Jan van Vianen, each with facing text in Latin, Italian, French and Dutch, contemporary marbled calf, ribbed and gilt back with morocco title shield, small 8vo.
Leather at spine ends expertly restored. Very good copy.
Rare emblemata book, undoubtedly with fake address. In PiCarta several copies appear, for which one description has been used. That description speaks of 90 instead of 92 one-sided leaves and accidentally (?) includes in the title "avec gravures de J. van Vianen" (a digital version of the KB copy, however, is ordered slightly different at the beginning, similar to our copy).
