Augsburg, Joseph Sebastian Klauber and Johann Baptist Klauber, n.d. (ca. 1750), letterpress title page with text in Latin and German besides each other and 100 engraved plates, binding by Laurent Claessens (1828-1909): half leather using older gilt backstrip dated 1770, oblong folio.

The title was pasted during the rebinding; inner hinge of front board broken, first pages reaffixed and final endpapers loose, else a very fine copy. The first edition of this extraordinary print bible appeared in 1748 (with date on title page), and another edition with the date listed on the title appeared in 1757. Our edition without date and with a slightly different address is seemingly more rare than the dated editions. Moreover, this copy is exceptional for having been in the possession of the Minderbroederscollege at Tielt; neatly noted in pen between the Latin and German title: "Conventus Thiletani FF Min Recollectorum Maneal In Cella VAP Guardiani Anno 1770." The extremely complicated and detailed engravings all have a large central scene surrounded by smaller scenes, all in the rococo cartouches so characteristic for the time.
