Lacks gg2-7 at the end (index and approbation dated 1648). Library stamp ("Paraenetica") and remnants of ticket on inside frontcover. Joints and outer corners rubbed. Very rare edition, only 2 copies in NCC. The emblems mostly depict worldly subjects, like a chess-board, a pair of earrings, a cannon, a puppet-theatre, lobsters, often with the hand(s) of God influencing the scene; (2) (J.S. Stoy. Bilder-Akademie für die Jugend. Nürnberg, 1784). Two plate-vols. only, 42 (of 52) engr. plates by Bock, Chodowiecki, Glassbach, Krüger, Penzel, Schellenberg and Schleuen after Chodowiecki, Schellenberg & Penzel, contemp. unif. half calf, obl. sm. folio.
